THE STORY OF MARIA BATTAGLIA

When Maria Battaglia talks about Corsica, she has these few words:

"It is by moving away from it that its memory, its brilliance, the emotions it carries, the source of inspiration it represents, the joy in the heart that it provokes are omnipresent..."

Halfway between the mountain ranges anchored in the sea, the wild maquis and the pine and olive forests that stretch as far as the eye can see, his childhood was marked by the floristic richness of a Balagne with its omnipresent nature.

In this treasure trove of biodiversity,

Maria discovers an innumerable variety of wild plants, minerals, trees, landscapes, animals and develops an infinite love for her native land.

Napoleon affirmed that every territory has the history of its geography.

Its borders are made of water,

The water of the Mediterranean, cradle of so many different peoples, of an immense sociological and cultural mix, of influences shared over the centuries from which it has benefited with more or less constraints.

Corsica is a unique mosaic in the world,

endowed with a rare beauty that led the ancient Greeks to call it Kallisté (the most beautiful), made up of landscapes as different as they are breathtaking, bringing together all the colors that the imagination can produce.

Nowadays, it is the last island to have been able to preserve its biotope away from the horrors of concrete.

All those who have seen, touched, felt, contemplated this earth with all their senses, keep it in memory for eternity.

Maria Battaglia was born on this island, in Balagne, north of Calvi, on a beautiful day in October 1989. Like her, her five brothers and sisters are carrying the ninth generation of their family into the future.

Maria's DNA is forged from this granite, this nature, this Mediterranean, this cultural richness. She studied there, met the man of her life, Ange-Marie and Paolina, her children, were born there.

by the

CORSICAN

The Maria Battaglia brand draws its inspiration from its Corsican origins.

His creations are an ode to the Mediterranean island, its flourishing nature and its mysticism.

In the Maria Battaglua collection, elements borrowed from the natural Corsican landscape recur as recurring motifs. Among them, we find the chestnut leaf, a tree from the Castagniccia region, the Immortelle flower, a Corsican endemic flower, the coral of Bonifacio, or the Altore, an eagle that has made this island its sanctuary.

Omnipresent in the Corsican landscape,

These flowers, trees, and animals are an essential link in the chain of life on the island.  They give it all its richness and are essential in maintaining its balance.

Emblematic figures of wild fauna and flora, they are also perceived as protectors.

Like guardians of nature,

they watch over their island and protect those who inhabit it.

High in the sky, eagles reign supreme.

Like security guards scanning the horizon, they keep a close eye on life on the island. Underwater, other creatures are keeping watch: sea urchins and red corals, which have the power to regulate and protect the marine environment.

Finally, there is "The Eye of Saint Lucia", a small shell operculum to which magical powers are attributed and which the children of the island collect to make lucky charms.

Worn as jewelry, these elements of nature take on all their symbolic force;  They confer luck, love or health on the wearer.

Imagined thus, like precious talismans,

Maria Battaglia creations are a promise of protection.

They can be worn in the crook of the wrist or on the finger with discretion and elegance, or close to the heart like a secret jewel that you would like to keep

A place of myths and legends,

Corsica has many stories. Although religion has faded over time, there are still many stories and beliefs in the imagination and folklore.

The symbolic representation of nature is always at the heart of culture.

Maintained by the island fibre which finds its expression in tales, songs and traditions, it has been perpetuated over the centuries and is still very present today. Maria Battaglia jewelry benefits from these stories, these foundations built over time and this authentic rootedness.

Symbolic

some

JEWELLERY

Between coral branches and diamond crosses, the Maria Battaglia collection is full of solar jewelry with great symbolic power.

As a link or gateway between the physical and mystical worlds, they attract the most beneficial influences.

In Corsica, nature is symbolically represented by 5 elements :

water, earth, air and fire, the universe.

Carried by the doxa, and passed down from generation to generation, this belief is at the origin of many legends and myths.

Nature is made up of symbols that, like sacred forces, orchestrate our world and provide the necessary conditions for life on earth;

The earth nourishes, the water quenches thirst, the air allows us to breathe, the fire warms, the universe illuminates.

Maria Battaglia jewelry each has a symbol belonging to one of these elements.

The Terra is represented by the chestnut tree, the Immortelle flower and the Rosula.

The Acqua is embodied by the coral, the sea urchin and the Eye of Saint Lucia.

The Fiama with the ring of love and passion.

The Aria by the eagle Altore.

The Universu by the star Diana and the cross.

Like consecrated symbols, these representations of nature, religion and the cosmos are carriers of the imagination.

The person who wears them also agrees to believe in their history and symbolism, and in turn transmits the myth.
