PROMISE & COMMITMENTS

MARIA BATTAGLIA, RESPONSIBLE RAW MATERIALS

Since day one, Maria Battaglia has been committed to a global approach of respect and protection. First of all, the environment, but also its partners, with a concrete commitment to its suppliers through thoughtful choices for its brand. It thus embodies a new idea of jewelry, conscious and ethical.

RESPONSIBLE JEWELRY COUNCIL CERTIFIED WORKSHOPS

The brand's jewelry is made in Italy and Spain, in workshops recognized for their know-how and responsible practices. For several generations, talented master jewellers have succeeded one another and worked to preserve their crafts, while respecting the jewelry tradition and the environment. As proof of this commitment, the workshops are labelled Responsible Jewelry Council. This certification concerns the entire sector, from the extraction of metals and stones to production. It provides the guarantee of perfect traceability of the raw materials used and testifies to the good working conditions of the craftsmen.

RAW MATERIALS RESPONSIBLY SOURCED

Maria Battaglia is also committed to carefully sourcing the raw materials to make her creations. The extraction of rare metals and stones can be devastating for the planet: it contributes to deforestation, groundwater pollution, and the degradation of natural areas. By sourcing from responsible mining communities, the brand ensures that the environmental impact of its activities is controlled and significantly reduced. Its stone suppliers are committed to a sustainable mining process and refuse any use of toxic substances or aggressive processes. The stones are extracted in a supervised manner with the greatest respect for the environment.

KIMBERLEY PROCESS CERTIFIED DIAMONDS

Fine jewelry brand Maria Battaglia has made a commitment to source exclusively Kimberley Process certified diamonds2. This certification scheme ensures that the stones do not come from the illicit trade in rough diamonds and that the profits have not been used to finance armed conflicts.

It requires diamonds to be accompanied by a certificate of origin and imposes controls on trade, a ban on trade with non-signatory countries.

MORE VALUABLE THAT GOLD, ETHICS

Maria has chosen to use recycled gold to make her creations . Made from old jewelry, unsold items and production leftovers, the material is remelted to be reused to give it a second life. By revalorizing gold in this way, the founder is making a choice for the environment, that of not exploiting new deposits whose extraction is highly polluting and of preserving the planet's natural resources. It is also a guarantee of respect for human rights, which are regularly violated due to the very difficult working conditions imposed by extracting countries.

A PRODUCTION LOCAL AND REASONED

Concerned about limiting her brand's environmental footprint as much as possible, Maria has chosen to have her jewelry made in a short and controlled circuit. She has entrusted the creation of her jewelry to workshops, located in Italy and Spain, recognized for their know-how. The parts are produced in small series in order to avoid overproduction and unnecessary exploitation of mining resources. The weaving and assembly of its pouches is carried out in Europe.
