Eye of Saint Lucia Necklace

The eye of Saint Lucia is a symbol inspired by the operculum of the turbo, a mollusk that inhabits the periphery of Corsica. Just like coral, it is the bearer of many ancestral Corsican legends. According to legend, Saint Lucy obtained the healing of her mother through her prayers to the Virgin Mary. In gratitude, Saint Lucia is said to have gouged out her eyes and thrown them into the sea so that nothing could distract her from her devotion to the Virgin Mary. In response to this devotion, the Blessed Virgin picked up two lids from the Turbo Rugosa, restored her sight and made her the most beautiful woman on the island. In the Maria Battaglia collection, the eye of Saint Lucia is worn as a pendant, around the neck to undoubtedly attract the sweetest omens.
